Dick Sockol
1921 – 2005

Sad to report that Dick Sockol, Founding Commodore of the Breakwater Irregulars (and Commodore for 20 years), as well as a Life Member at Halloween, has lost his battle with lung cancer. He died quietly and comfortably in his sleep, 5:30 AM July 8, at home in St. Petersburg, FL.

Dick was a World War II Army veteran. In Stamford, he was the owner of Sockol Express Trucking Co. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Marjorie; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The Sockol family joined representatives of the Breakwater Irregulars for a memorial service aboard On The Line, on station near the Cows Buoy, as member sailboats passed by to pay their respects.
